Dr. Leuthner received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albuquerque, NM in 2002. She went on to complete an ASHP-accredited general pharmacy practice residency at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMCSN) in Las Vegas, NV, and an ACCP-recognized Infectious Disease Pharmacotherapy fellowship at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, focusing on antibiotic resistance.  Her research has been presented at the International Conference of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID), Infectious Disease Week (IDWeek) and International Society of Cardiovascular Infectious Diseases where she was chosen for a platform presentation.  She has been awarded the Making A Difference young researcher award in 2004 along with the George McCracken travel award for two consecutive years.  Presently Dr. Leuthner is working as the Clinical Specialist in Infectious Disease at UMCSN, where she developed the institutional antimicrobial stewardship program, along with precepting pharmacy residents and students.  In 2010, she received one of the first certifications in Antimicrobial Stewardship offered through Making A Difference in Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID). Her continued leadership in hospital and city wide antimicrobial activities have resulted in repeated invitations for participation in the annual Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) Chapter 35 annual meeting in Las Vegas and other academic conferences locally, nationally and in 2017 internationally.  She continues her other duties with the infectious disease rounding service, along with teaching and mentoring.  In 2013, Dr. Leuthner was awarded the Roseman University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Preceptor of the year award. She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the American Society of Microbiology (ASM), and American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).  In 2016 Dr. Leuthner was nominated for and awarded Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America (FIDSA) – the first pharmacist in the state of Nevada to receive this recognition.
