Dr. Rahbar graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. Afterward, he received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with highest honors from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy in Memphis, Tennessee. He then completed an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited PGY1 Pharmacy residency and an ASHP accredited PGY2 residency in Critical Care at Grady Health System in Atlanta, Georgia. During residency, Dr. Rahbar completed a pharmacy teaching certificate program through Mercer University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon completion of residency training, Dr. Rahbar accepted a position as a clinical pharmacy specialist in Emergency Medicine at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMCSN). He became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) in 2011 and a Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist (BCCCP) in 2015. In 2015 Dr. Rahbar accepted a position as the Director of Pharmacology at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV and in 2016 became the course director for Pharmacology in the Master of Science in Nursing curriculum at Touro University College of Nursing in Henderson, Nevada. In 2017, Dr. Rahbar became the Residency Program Director for the Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at UMCSN and in 2020 became the Clinical Educational Program Manager, transitioned his practice area to Critical Care Medicine, and became the Residency Program Director for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at UMCSN. Dr. Rahbar serves as a peer reviewer for Annals of Pharmacotherapy and Journal of Emergency Medicine. He has multiple publications in the areas of Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine. His interests include anticoagulation reversal, burnout and resilience, feedback theory in education, and FOAMed. Dr. Rahbar precepts students from Roseman University College of Pharmacy, Creighton University College of Pharmacy, and pharmacy residents. He is a current member of ASHP and served as co-chair of the 2020 Twitter subcommittee for the ASHP Emergency Care Section Advisory Group.
